Reviewed: Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts

Chaffree is an exciting new brand that offers a range of seamless, sweat absorbing and chafe reducing underwear for men and women.

Chaffree kindly sent us a pair of their Men's Boxer Shorts to trial and review. They recommended that we try them for being particularly comfortable to wear under tights.

Chaffree claim that their "underwear is so comfortable you'll have to check you've put it on." We were eager to put this to the test.

Materials and features
The Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts are nicely packaged. The boxer shorts are enclosed in a piece of folded card, and then housed in a clear plastic envelope.

The packaging information is detailed and useful and includes information on the fabric, features and sizing.

The Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts are available in both Short (5″) and Long (7″) leg lengths. This review focuses on the Short version.

First impressions are very positive. These boxers are clearly a very well-designed and well-made product with a number of unique features.

Let's look at the fabric first. The boxers are made from a special performance wicking fabric called COOLMAX®, which aims to keep the skin cool and dry. COOLMAX® fabric that includes an effective fiber-based moisture management system. The system can move perspiration away from the body, and through the fabric, where it can evaporate quickly, allowing the wearer to feel cooler and more comfortable. By causing preparation to evaporate quickly, skin irritation is reduced. The fabric also has anti-bacterial qualities.

The fabric feels lightweight and very soft to the touch. It is made from 78% Polyester/COOLMAX, 14% Polyamide and 8% Elastane.

The hight Elastane content makes the boxers nice and stretchy. The fabric is designed to flexible and provide a second skin feel to minimise movement and any chafing.

The boxers have a range of unique features. There is a wide (4.5cm) waistband and the legs also have a 1.5cm wide double stretched cuff. The waistband has no label - this is also a plus as the goal is total comfort with no features that might irritate or chafe.

The fabric has extra breathability in areas (such as the rear of the garment) where sweating is more likely.

Seams throughout are flat and superbly finished.

Fit and sizing
The Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts are available in five sizes:

  • S/M (Waist 28"-32")
  • M/L (Waist 34"-38")
  • L/XL (Waist 40"-44")
  • XL/2XL (Waist 46"-50")
  • 2XL/3XL (Waist 52"-56")
I wore the M/L size.

Note that 2XL/3XL sizes are only available via Chaffree's pre-order service and can take up to 12 weeks for delivery.

The Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts provided a wonderfully comfortable fit. They mould themselves to the body for a genuine second skin wearing experience. The boxers move with you throughout the day, not against you. When worn the fabric is actually quite similar to opaque tights.

The fabric is extremely soft on the skin. I have worn them three times now before writing this review and each time they have been a great wear.

Under tights, they perform particularly well. They seem to assist tights to stay in place and the experience is exceptionally comfortable.

Colour range

The Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts are available are available in three shades:
    • Jet (Black)
    • Arctic (White)
    • Pacific (Blue)
I tested a pair in the Jet (Black) shade.

    Price and availability

The Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts are priced at £17.00 for the S/M and M/L sizes. For larger sizes are priced at £18.00.

They are also available in packs of three and packs of five.

    Conclusion
The Chaffree Men's Boxer Shorts are a genuine premium product. I am impressed with the amount of care that has gone into designing them to ensure they provide the optimum comfort and wearing experience.

Quality is really excellent and if you have any problems at all with chafing or discomfort with your current underwear, I would urge you to give them a try. Even if chafing is not an issue, these boxers are a great product for everyday where.

A further plus is that, unlike cotton underwear, the Chaffree boxers dry extremely quickly after washing. I travelled with them, washed them at night in my hotel and in the morning they were completely dry and ready to wear again. This makes them ideal for travellers.

Chaffree have plans to launch men's briefs later this year. I will definitely be buying these when they are available.

They are also planning to launch a range of Chaffree tights in the future. To get more news on when further Chaffree products are available, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

You can also contact Chaffree via their website. The owner of the brand, Amanda Whaley, will happily answer any questions you might have.
